Special Events is putting the challenge out to the public to lose the booze for the month of January with their Dry Jan fundraising event and challenge.

The funds will be used by BeYouPromise.Org to fund its Be You - Youth Healthy Choices & Anti-Drug Educational Outreach Program, The Canadian Liver Foundation and The Umbrella Society for Addictions and Mental Health.

Registration to Dry Jan is completely free! Once you’ve registered you will build your own profile dedicated to your campaign. You can add personal information, pictures and update the Dry Jan community on your status throughout the month.

BeYouPromise.Org will be donating part of the Dry Jan funds to The Canadian Liver Foundation in support of liver health and education.

A non-profit charitable organization headquartered in Victoria, B.C. The primary goal of BeYouPromise.Org is to provide proactive educational programs to youth in schools and to parents and adults at community hall meetings and at different corporate offices and rotary clubs. It also offers ten $1,000.00 Scholarships each year to recognize high school students for their commitment to remaining well rounded, and inspiring others to be the best selves they can be without using drugs or alcohol.

The 2015 annual LIVERight Gala that took place in Vancouver’s beautiful Pan Pacific Hotel, was the most successful CLF gala to date. Reaching a record fundraising amount of over $350,000, and honouring one of BC’s top liver specialists, Dr. Charles Scudamore, philanthropists, Sunny and Florence Leong and liver patient Natalie Williams. With the contributions of our generous sponsors, donors,  BC Chapter Board, staff and volunteers, over 350 guests left the event feeling touched by its inspiring speeches,  deliciously prepared meal, and its utter elegance and sincerity.

Amidst our display of over 70 silent auction items generously donated by various business sectors, and 3 live auction items - a jade frog statue specifically created by world renowned Jade Sculptor,  Lyle Sopel; a Range Rover package tour and an exclusive, private dinner for 6 hosted by Dr. Charles Scudamore with special guest, Trevor Linden. Guests were able to contribute to raising funds for research and education, with a focus on children with liver disease. Not only that, guests were given the opportunity to purchase one or multiple of our 400 balloons. Thanks to everyone’s generosity, all 400 balloons were sold!  The balloons magnified the beauty of the event with their golden gleam and  gave purchasers the opportunity to win one of many prizes including a trip to Hong Kong and a half caret Canadian diamond. Our presenting sponsor – Scotiabank, along with our honourees, Dr. Charles Scudamore and Natalie Williams added to the magic of the night with their touching stories of overcoming, treating and participating in  the shared journey towards eradicating liver disease from our society.

We would like to sincerely thank philanthropists, Sunny and Florence Leong who want to make a difference for those affected by liver disease. They made a generous donation of $150,000. This significant donation will further our research and education programs.  We would also like to thank Moon Coin for their upbeat entertainment and Ludia Li, for her angelic voice that permeated through the room, as a soft wind of pure elegance.

Thank you everyone for all of your contributions! We hope to see you again next year!
