| LIVERight Award submissions are evaluated using criteria based on Canada’s Food Guide. A certified dietitian confirmed the LIVERight Awards’ evaluation criteria are appropriate for a person who requires 2,000 calories per day to maintain his/her ideal weight. As the Canada Food Guide revisits nutritional criteria, so too will the LIVERight™ Awards. For example, the CLF may revisit how sugar and salt are prioritized among these criteria in future years. Each product must obtain an above average grade in the ‘nutritious’ evaluation in order to be eligible for an award; products that do not receive an above average grade in this area are automatically eliminated. To evaluate submissions for ‘deliciousness’, the judging panel scores each entry equally based on the following criteria: taste, innovation, freshness, texture, aroma and visual appeal. All submitted products are prepared according to the product manufacturer’s recommendations and served to the judges in sample sizes during the judging process. Information regarding product packaging, manufacturer and brand is not revealed to the judges during the tasting process. * The Canadian Liver Foundation is not a governing body on nutrition, nor are we affiliated with such a governing body. |
