My Community – Ontario

Celebrate the CLF and learn about the Ontario Region!

We are actively raising funds for liver disease research and educating the public on liver health across Ontario. No matter what skills you have, or how you are affected by liver disease, the CLF needs you to help us continue bringing liver research to life. You can do this in many ways, all of which have an impact on your community.

We host many events every year with the support of volunteers, sponsors, and donors. All of our fundraising and educational events can be found on the Participate page and you can help us as a volunteer.

We also provide valuable educational presentations to businesses, schools, and the public. Contact us to find out how we can help your organization.

The Canadian Liver Foundation has four regions in Ontario: Southwestern, Central, Northern, and Eastern. (The Central Ontario chapter is currently housed in the National office.)

The staff in each region work hard with volunteers to improve public awareness and understand of liver health and liver disease, raise funds for research and education with our two signature events the STROLL for LIVER and the LIVERight Gala (in Toronto and Ottawa), assist with third-party events, and reach out to liver disease patients and their families.

Support Programs and Services

The National Help Line:

This help line gives you and your loved one somewhere to turn for answers after diagnosis, helps you understand your disease, and provides you with the resources you need.  You can call 1 (800) 563-5483 Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM EST or email us.

The Peer Support Network:

This program is a national network of people living with liver disease that have offered to share their experiences with others. It was developed by the Canadian Liver Foundation as a means to link Canadians like you who have been diagnosed with a liver disease, have a family member who has liver disease or care for someone who suffers from liver disease to talk about your concerns with a peer with a similar experience.

If you would like to be connected with a Peer Supporter in your area, or would like to join the Peer Support Network, please fill out the Peer Support Network sign-up form.

Living with Liver Disease Programs:

A free, online monthly forum for people living with liver disease, transplant recipients and their families to connect with each other in person, to learn about their disease and learn how to cope. The program consists of sessions covering topics ranging from nutrition and exercise to treatments and transplantation. Guest speakers include liver specialists, social workers, nutritionists, psychotherapists, liver transplant nurses and kinesiologists. During the COVID-19 pandemic, The Living with Liver Disease program is being presented in a series of sessions, visit www.liver.ca/lwld to register.

Community Health Presentations:

Support programs

Our community presentations on liver health are offered to community groups (health & community centres, retirement homes, etc.) and are facilitated by Canadian Liver Foundation staff to promote a better understanding and awareness of liver disease.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, virtual presentations can be booked for groups and presented via a private Zoom link. To host a presentation for your community group in Ontario, please contact in the interim Lucy by email or at 1-800-563-5483.
