CLF-CASL Webinar: COVID-19 Vaccine Safety for Patients with Liver Disease

Patients and family members, healthcare providers, and others affected by liver disease are invited to join the Canadian Liver Foundation and the Canadian Association for the Study of the Liver for a special one-hour webinar on Wednesday, February 10th at 7pm ET. The webinar will address questions – plus common myths and misconceptions – around COVID-19 vaccination, with a special focus on concerns specific to liver diseases.

Dr. Craig Jenne (University of Calgary), an immunology and infectious disease specialist and frequent medical expert on CBC and other news networks, will be joined by Dr. Jordan Feld (University Health Network Toronto), current President of the Canadian Association for the Study of the Liver (CASL) and a senior researcher and practising hepatologist with expertise in clinical liver disease management, antiviral research and clinical trials studying immune response.

Together, their presentations will address:

  • Why we need COVID-19 vaccines
  • The vaccine development and clinical trial process
  • How COVID-19 vaccines work – all your questions about mRNA (plus a few others) answered
  • Why liver patients should get vaccinated – safety, effectiveness, and risks associated with COVID for liver patients

This webinar will be a Facebook Live event, so you will be able to ask questions to our experts and hear the answers in real time via the live and interactive Q/A feed.
