Group of CLF supporters at the Stroll for Liver

Thank you for joining us at Cornwall’s 1st Stroll for Liver!

Saturday, June 22, 2019

Thank everyone who participated and joined us for the 1st Cornwall STROLL for LIVER. The event was a great success as a result of your participation and the leadership of Colby Demerchant.

With your help we raised over $5,700 to support liver research and education and we welcomed over 100 participants. We are so grateful for everyone’s support for this inaugural event.

Did you miss it? Here is a recap of the great event.

Colby Demerchant was the emcee of the event, he shared with the group his journey with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC) a liver disease in which the bile ducts progressively decrease in side due to inflammation and scarring. To read his story click here.

Mayor Bernadette Clement honored us with her presence and provided some motivating remarks.  Heather Badenoch, a living liver donor, shared her incredible story of organ donation and encouraged participants to register to be a donor. To read Heather’s story click here.

The Cornwall Stroll for Liver offered liver health information that was well received, Spider-man dropped by for a visit as well.

Love Love Food provided delicious food for our reception and Cristill Rock provided water to our participants.

We enjoyed a breathtaking river view from St. Lawrence Power Development Visitor Centre thanks to Ontario Power Generation.

Please note that fundraising is open for a few more weeks,  support liver research and education, please donate to the event here.

1 in 4 Canadians may be affected by liver disease – Colby is one of them.

Colby Demerchant and his familyColby is a teacher, friend, brother, son, husband, and most importantly, a father. All his other accomplishments pale in comparison to his role as a father to his three beautiful children.

In 2006, Colby was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis, and after a lengthy process of poking, prodding and drinking what seemed like gallons of vile tasting concoctions for several different tests, the doctors discovered that his liver functions tests were atypically high. A year later, in the summer of 2007, Colby was finally diagnosed with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC).

With no known cure for PSC or even effective medications to slow its effects down, Colby’s goal is to raise funds for liver research to help find a cure for PSC and other liver diseases.

Please note that fundraising is open for a few more weeks. Support liver research and education, please donate here.
