Ronni PBC after trasplant

« In December of 2012 after what it is suspected to have been a decade spent living with a silent liver disease, I was diagnosed with Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC), a rare autoimmune liver disease. PBC turned my own immune system against my bile ducts causing inflammation and a considerable amount of cirrhosis.

Falling ill, I was put on the transplant list in February 2016 and spent my time in and out of the hospital (with a total stay of over 45 days!). Finally, we found that my nephew Anthony, who was the twelfth family/friend member to be tested, was a perfect match for my transplant. I went from not expecting to see another year of life, to participating in the 2017 Stroll for Liver and even attending my Grandson’s grade nine graduation.

Thank you to all who support the Canadian Liver Foundation for their lifesaving work in promoting research and treatment for those living with liver disease. »

We invite you to join Ronni and her family in their efforts to change the future by signing up or pledging for a Stroll for Liver.
