Response to Mystery Hepatitis Affecting Canadian Children

Response to Mystery Hepatitis Affecting Canadian Children

We are aware of and monitoring the news regarding the increase in a mystery hepatitis occurring in children around the world. On May 10, Toronto’s SickKids hospital reported seven probable cases of this hepatitis, confirming it is present in Canada. We are in regular communication with our colleagues in the liver health space in Canada and are monitoring updates closely at this time.

We wanted to take a moment to remind our community that the CLF continues to be here for all Canadians affected by liver disease, including hepatitis. News like this can raise many questions about liver health, and supporting our community remains one of our top priorities. If you or your loved ones find yourselves affected by this new mystery hepatitis or would like to learn more about liver disease, we encourage you to call our National Help Line at 1 (800) 563-5483 for assistance.

You can also browse our website, www.liver.ca, to find several resources on liver disease diagnosis and treatment. Our team of experts is ready to provide support and education.

We will be providing updates with what we learn and know about this as we learn more. You can watch this space or our social media channels for the most up-to-date information.

Times like these underscore the importance of liver health education, awareness, advocacy, and support. If you wish to support the CLF to ensure that we can continue our work for the 1 in 4 Canadians affected by liver disease, you can do so at www.liver.ca/donate.
